Hola from Mexico!
Well I hope the station is up and running smoothly. I am writing this blogg from a cyber cafe on the beach at Puerto Morelos Mexico. Sometimes the volunteer program director just needs a break. I have programmed our automationm system to play a limited amount of programming until I return, and am hoping all is well. Just leave a comment if it is not. I have been checking my voicemail (207) 323-2430 and taken notes on comments about the station, but since its a bit pricey to call folks I will wait until Feb. 28 to return calls. I di have a chance to check out our local cable TV and there does not appear to be any PEG channels down here, though plenty of Mexican soap operas and old fashioned Music video channels. I am getting several inquirees about producing programs, so we are building on our base of local shows. Well I got to go and work on my tan. Ned Lightner
BCTV Program director’s Report
February 8, 2007 Equipment and Facilities: With the audio expertise of Dave Johnson, we have installed the audio leveler, which makes the audio from various shows that come to us sound more even from show to show and also reduces the chances of hearing distorted audio from shows that were recorded at a high level. Our server is still not operational due to a technical glitch in the playback software. Hopefully we will get those glitches fixed, and get the server operating shortly. Programming: Karen Saum has offered to work on some grant projects to help BCTV. Her first project is to work with “The Game Loft” to purchase a video camera and develop a training schedule to teach youths to produce programming for the station. We began airing the promo produced by Jerry Klaimon, asking for viewer feedback, and we have received two complimentary phone calls so far. The Church of the Holy Light is recording a special church service on a monthly basis. The first of its programs is airing this week and it was exactly one hour long. We are also airing a new weekly series “Hot and Cold” produced by Tom Cocze. It is a kind of local version of “This old House” with an emphasis on energy efficiency. We have also begun airing a monthly show entitled “Maine Video Activist network” It is quite well done and seems to have a variety of interesting topics. I will be going on vacation for a couple weeks, so our programming will be a bit limited for a little while, however my brother John is going to be handling automation duties and troubleshooting in my absence.
