Community Television Association of Maine Meeting
On Tuesday January 29 the winter meeting of the community Television association of Maine took place. This organization has about 24 community television station in its membership. Belfast community TV is one of the members. It is a worthwhile organization to be involved with. It was at a meeting of CTAM that I met Bob Nichols who provided BCTV with the video server that allows us to play much of our local programming. CTAM allows community TV station staff to discuss common issues and work together to try to preserve this valuable community resource that is under threat constantly from multimedia companies that would rather not provide such channels to towns. I am involved in an archive project that hopes to preserve some of the more interesting or historically significant programming produced by these stations, so that they may be accessible to all well into the future. We are also working to share programs that are produced in one community but may be of interest to others. Several of our local programs are shared with other community TV stations including, "A new Vaudeville Revue", "The Mark and Tim Show", "Andrews and Andrews at the Auction" and "Gardens of Waldo County". We carry programs produced at other stations such as, "Second Act", "Cooking with Henry", "Notes from upriver" and "traintime".
